01

What kinds of Pune homes do families ask about?

Pune questions range from heritage homes to brand-new townships, and each needs a different kind of reading. Established areas have independent bungalows with gardens, the old city's peths still hold wadas built around courtyards, and the growing edges of the city near IT parks such as Hinjewadi and Kharadi are full of integrated townships, row houses and tall residential towers.

Many families also have a Mumbai connection: parents who have retired to Pune, a second home bought for weekends, or a job move across the expressway. An online consultation lets the whole family take part, wherever each person lives.

02

How does Vastu work for an older Pune bungalow or wada?

It works with the house as it stands, using a change of use and simple remedies rather than any demolition. A traditional wada built around an open courtyard already honours one of Vastu's central ideas: the ब्रह्मस्थान (Brahmasthan, the centre) kept open to sky, light and air. The task is to keep that courtyard clear, clean and uncluttered, with the tulsi vrindavan placed in the North, East or North-East of it where possible.

Older bungalows usually raise questions about additions: a room built over the garage, a toilet added in a corner, a staircase moved outside. Dr. Kimaya reads each addition by zone and suggests what to use it for. The garden, gate and compound wall are read too, with tall trees in the South and West and open lawn towards the North and East; see main gate and compound wall Vastu.

03

What should you check in a Pune row house or township flat?

In a row house, check the staircase and the middle of the house first; in a township flat, check your unit's own orientation and entrance. Row houses are narrow, share walls on both sides and rise over two or three floors, so the internal staircase often lands near the centre and the middle rooms can be dark.

A staircase works well in the South, South-West or West, leaving the North-East and the centre light; staircase Vastu explains why. Where it is already built elsewhere, good lighting, a clutter-free landing and colour help. Since each floor of a row house behaves like part of a duplex, the guidance in duplex and penthouse Vastu applies too.

Township towers repeat one plan in several directions, so compare shortlisted units by entrance pada, kitchen zone, master bedroom and any toilet in the North-East. The flat and plot selection service compares them from the plans.

04

How does Pune's climate shape Vastu at home?

Pune's drier air and cooler mornings make sunlight something to invite in, while the hot summer afternoons from the West and South-West are kept out. Compared with Mumbai, damp is less of a daily battle and gardens grow well, so the advice leans towards light, airflow and planting.

Bedrooms and sitting areas that catch the East's morning sun feel warm and bright in winter. The West and South-West sides, which take the afternoon heat in April and May, suit heavier walls, wardrobes and taller plants. During the monsoon, keep the North-East corner of a terrace or garden free of standing water. For planting by direction, see garden and plant placement.

05

Can Dr. Kimaya visit a Pune property?

Yes. Dr. Kimaya travels for site visits, and Pune is relatively close to her Mumbai base; the dates are arranged on the free first call. Whether a visit or an online consultation suits you better depends on the property more than the distance.

For a flat or row house with a good plan and clear photographs, the online reading is usually enough. For a plot, a large bungalow, a wada with years of additions, or a farmhouse on the city's edges, the surroundings, slopes and approach roads carry more weight. A sensible pattern is an online review of all your options first, then a site visit for the final choice.

06

How do Pune's festivals fit with Vastu at home?

Pune's big household festivals already revolve around the entrance, the pooja space and light, the same places Vastu pays most attention to. During Ganeshotsav, the idol at home is placed in the North-East, or otherwise the North or East, on a raised, clean platform; see placing Ganpati as per Vastu.

On Gudi Padwa, the gudi is raised on the right side of the entrance, a window or a balcony, ideally towards the East or North-East to catch the morning sun, as described in Gudi Padwa and home energy. And at Diwali, when children build their clay killa in a courtyard or balcony, a bright, tidy North-East and lamps at the threshold complete the welcome.

07

How does an online Vastu consultation for Pune work?

A free first call on +91 70391 07512 is the starting point, and the session can be in Marathi, English, Hindi or Gujarati. If you choose a site visit, the dates are set on that call. For an online consultation, you then send the floor plan with North marked, photographs or a short video of each room, and compass readings taken just inside the main door.

Dr. Kimaya studies these first, walks you through the findings on a video call between 9 am and 7 pm IST, Monday to Saturday, and sends a written report of non-structural remedies, with follow-up afterwards. Family members in Mumbai or abroad can join the same call. Both options are explained on the Vastu consultation across India and abroad page.

प्रश्न Questions

Common questions about Pune

Can the Vastu consultation be done in Marathi?

Yes. Sessions are offered in Marathi, English, Hindi and Gujarati, so you can choose whichever the family is most comfortable with on the free first call.

Is an open courtyard in a Pune wada good as per Vastu?

Generally yes. An open central courtyard keeps the Brahmasthan, the centre of the home, open to light and air, which Vastu values. Keep it clean and uncluttered, avoid heavy storage or a toilet there, and place the tulsi towards the North, East or North-East of it.

Where should the staircase be in a Pune row house?

Ideally in the South, South-West or West, keeping the North-East and the centre light. If an existing staircase sits elsewhere, it is balanced with good lighting, a clear landing and colour rather than rebuilt.

My parents live in Pune and I live in Mumbai. Can I arrange it for them?

Yes. You can book the free first call, gather the plan and photographs with your parents' help, and join the discussion together on one call. The written report is sent to whoever you choose.

Is a South-facing row house a poor choice?

No. The South is linked with Yama and with discipline and stability, and South-facing homes do well when the entrance sits in a suitable pada and the North-East inside is kept open and bright. Remedies such as threshold metal strips and colour help where needed.

Does Dr. Kimaya visit Pune in person?

Yes. She travels for site visits, and Pune's closeness to Mumbai can make that easier to arrange; the dates are set on the free first call. Many Pune homes are also handled fully online, with the same written report.
