Tarot Card Reading in Mumbai: What to Expect

01

What is a tarot card reading in Mumbai actually like?

A tarot card reading in Mumbai is a quiet, structured conversation in which the cards give shape to something you are already turning over in your mind. There is nothing theatrical about it. You settle in, you say what is on your mind, cards are laid out, and the images become a way of talking about your situation from angles you may not have considered.

Many people arrive expecting to be told what will happen. That is not what a careful reading offers. Tarot is better understood as a reflection tool — a set of seventy-eight pictures used to help people name feelings, weigh choices and notice what they have been avoiding. The insight comes from you; the cards simply give you something concrete to think against.

In a city like Mumbai, where decisions are often made at speed and in noise, that pause has real value. Undistracted thinking about one question is rare. The cards hold the structure so your mind can do the work. Readings are for adults aged 18 and over.

02

How do you prepare for your first reading?

Prepare by deciding what you genuinely want clarity on, and by being willing to talk honestly about it. You do not need to study the cards, buy a deck or learn any terminology beforehand.

It helps to come to the session with a little time in hand rather than rushing in from something else. Some people like to sit quietly for a few minutes first. In Indian practice this settling is close to the idea of संकल्प (sankalpa, a clear intention held in the mind) — not a wish for a particular outcome, but a decision to look at your situation truthfully.

  • 01

    Bring one main question

One well-formed question explored properly is far more useful than eight quick ones skimmed over.

  • 02

    Write down the context

A few lines about what has already happened helps the conversation start in the right place.

  • 03

    Come as you are

There is no ritual you must perform, no fast to keep and nothing you need to carry with you.

  • 04

    Decide what you will share

You choose how much detail to give. A reading works with what you are comfortable saying.

03

What happens during the session, step by step?

The session usually moves through four stages: framing the question, shuffling and drawing, reading the cards together, and turning what emerges into next steps.

First you talk. The reader will often reshape your question with you, because 'will I get the job' gives very little to work with, while 'what am I not seeing about this role' opens up a whole conversation. Then the deck is shuffled and cards are laid out in a chosen pattern, called a spread. Dr. Kimaya works with the Rider–Waite–Smith deck of 78 cards, whose fully illustrated scenes make it easy to follow along even if you have never handled cards before.

As each card is turned, the reader describes its traditional meaning and its imagery, and then asks how that lands for you. This is the heart of it. A card is not a verdict handed down; it is a prompt, and your response to the prompt is the actual material of the reading. You are encouraged to disagree, to say 'that is not it' and to steer.

Some cards will land reversed, and this is nothing to be uneasy about. A reversal usually softens a card's theme or turns it inward — a delay, a hesitation, something known but not yet said out loud. It is never a punishment or a bad omen. Session formats and lengths differ from reader to reader, so ask what to expect when you book rather than assuming.

04

What will a responsible tarot reader not do?

A responsible reader will not predict dates, deaths, illnesses, pregnancies, court outcomes or how another person feels about you. They will also not tell you that you are cursed, or that only they can fix something.

Be cautious with anyone who promises a particular outcome, quotes a frightening consequence and then offers to remove it for a fee, or claims certainty about events that have not happened. Tarot cannot know the future, and a reading that leaves you more frightened than when you began has not done its job.

  • 01

    No medical opinions

Cards cannot diagnose anything. For any health concern, a doctor is the right person to see.

  • 02

    No legal or financial advice

For property disputes, contracts, tax or investments, consult a lawyer or a qualified financial adviser.

  • 03

    No reading about absent people

A reading is about your choices and your position, not a way to see inside someone else's mind.

  • 04

    No pressure to return

You should leave feeling you can act on your own, not that you must come back weekly.

05

How does tarot sit alongside Vastu and Reiki?

Tarot sits alongside these practices as the conversational, decision-making part of the work, while the others address your space and your energy. They answer different questions and are often used together.

A Vastu consultation looks at direction, layout and placement in your home or office. Reiki and Reiki Vastu work with the energy of a person or a space, and crystal therapy adds supportive stones in the right zones. A tarot reading is where you sit with a specific choice and think it through.

In practice a client might come for a home consultation and find that the real knot is a career decision — which is a conversation, not a placement. The reverse happens too: a reading about feeling stuck at home often points to something simple about light, clutter or where the bed is facing.

06

What do you take away afterwards?

You take away a clearer picture of your situation and two or three things you can actually do this week. That is the measure of a useful reading.

Some people note down the cards that were drawn and revisit them later; images that seemed puzzling in the moment often make sense a few days on. Others find that simply having said the difficult thing out loud was the shift.

Give yourself a little time before making any large decision. A reading is one input, alongside your own judgement, the facts of your situation and advice from people qualified in that field. If a reading stirs up grief, anxiety or a low mood that does not lift, please speak to a mental-health professional. In India you can call the free Tele-MANAS helpline on 14416 (or 1-800-891-4416), available 24×7.

07

When to book a tarot reading

Book a reading when you are facing a real choice and your own thinking has gone in circles — a job offer, a move, a difficult conversation you keep postponing, or a season of life that feels shapeless.

Dr. Kimaya Parikh-Ambekar reads tarot online by video call, alongside her Vastu, Reiki and crystal work at VastuKimaya's office at Naman Premier, Marol Military Road, Andheri East, Mumbai, so a reading is open to clients in Mumbai and elsewhere. The approach is the same throughout: honest conversation, practical suggestions, and no claims about what fate has in store.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is tarot card reading in Mumbai the same as fortune-telling?

No. A responsible reading uses the cards as a reflection tool to explore your situation and options. It does not forecast events, dates or outcomes.

Do I need to believe in tarot for a reading to help?

No. Many people come sceptical and still find value, because the session is essentially structured, honest thinking about one question with someone who listens carefully.

What should I ask in my first reading?

Ask about something live in your life where you have a choice to make — a role, a relationship, a move or a habit. Open questions work better than yes-or-no ones.

Can I ask about someone else?

You can ask about your own position in a relationship or situation. A careful reader will not claim to reveal another person's private thoughts or decisions.

How often should I have a reading?

Only when there is a genuine question. Repeated readings about the same issue tend to add noise rather than clarity; give your last one time to play out.

Can tarot replace medical or legal help?

No. For health matters see a doctor, for legal matters a lawyer, and for money decisions a qualified financial adviser. Tarot supports reflection, not professional advice.
