Online Tarot Reading for NRIs: How It Works

If you live outside India and want a reading with someone who understands the family context behind your question, a video session removes the distance. Here is how it is arranged and what actually happens.

Online Tarot Reading for NRIs: How It Works

01

How does an online tarot reading for NRIs work?

It works as a scheduled video call, exactly as it would if you were sitting in Mumbai. You write in or call with your question, a time is agreed that suits both countries, and at that time the reader lays out the cards on her table and shows them to you one by one on camera.

At VastuKimaya, tarot reading is offered online only, by video call, using the Rider–Waite–Smith 78-card deck. Reversed cards are read as part of the picture — usually as a softening, a delay or an inward turn, not as a bad omen. Readings are charged at ₹1,000 per spread, and the spread that suits your question is decided together on the first call.

Nothing about the method changes because you are in Dubai, Toronto or Melbourne. A reading is a conversation with cards in the middle of it, and a conversation travels well.

02

Why do Indians abroad look for a reader back home?

Usually because the question has Indian context inside it. A decision about whether to move parents abroad, how to handle a marriage conversation, whether to keep the flat in Pune or sell it — these are easier to discuss with someone who does not need the background explained twice.

Language matters too. Sessions are held in English, Hindi, Marathi or Gujarati, and many people find they think more honestly in the language they grew up arguing in.

There is also the simple matter of trust. Reading a reader's website, seeing a real office address in Andheri East and a working phone number is more reassuring than an anonymous listing on a marketplace app.

03

What happens on the first call?

The first consultation call is free, and its job is to work out whether a reading is the right step at all. You describe what is on your mind, the process is explained to you, and the spread is chosen.

Practical matters — how the session will be scheduled across your time zone, how long to set aside, and how payment will be arranged from where you live — are settled on this call rather than guessed at in advance.

  • 01

    Single card

One card, one focus. Useful when you want a prompt to think with rather than a full discussion.

  • 02

    Three-card spread

A wider view of a situation — what led here, where you stand, what is taking shape.

  • 03

    Celtic Cross

The detailed one. Suited to a tangled situation with several people and pressures in it.

  • 04

    Relationship and career spreads

Shaped around a specific area, where the question is about a bond or about work.

  • 05

    Option spread

For a genuine fork in the road — two or three routes laid side by side so you can see what each asks of you.

  • 06

    Yes/no spread

A narrow format for a narrow question. It still opens into discussion rather than closing it down.

04

How do you set up your side from another country?

Treat it as an appointment, not something you take while cooking. Fifteen minutes of preparation changes the quality of the hour.

  • 01

    A room with a door

If you can be overheard by flatmates or family, you will edit yourself, and the session loses its point.

  • 02

    A tested connection

Check your camera and microphone the day before, and keep a phone number ready as a fallback if the video drops.

  • 03

    Headphones and notifications off

Sound clarity matters when you are reading tone across a screen. Silence the phone and close other tabs.

  • 04

    Your question written down

One प्रश्न (prashna, question) in a single sentence. Writing it out often changes it, which is useful in itself.

  • 05

    Pen and paper

Notes beat memory. What strikes you mid-session is surprisingly easy to lose by the next morning.

  • 06

    A few quiet minutes first

Do not walk in straight from a work call. Sit still for three minutes so you arrive present.

05

What can tarot help with, and what can it not?

Tarot helps you look at a situation from an angle you have not been using. The cards act as prompts; the value comes from what you say out loud in response to them, and from being asked questions nobody in your family will ask.

It does not predict events or dates, and no honest reader will tell you when you will get a visa, whether a pregnancy will happen, or how a court matter will end. Questions about health, law and money belong with a doctor, a lawyer or a qualified financial adviser — a reading can help you decide how you feel about your options, not what the answer is.

If you are living far from home and genuinely struggling — sleepless, isolated, unable to function — please speak to a mental-health professional where you live. If you are in India, the free Tele-MANAS helpline is available 24×7 on 14416 (or 1-800-891-4416).

06

Which questions suit a reading when you live abroad?

The useful ones are the questions you keep circling without resolving. 'Should I take the offer in another city, given what it costs my family?' works. 'Will my visa be approved in March?' does not.

Distance sharpens certain themes — belonging, guilt about parents, whether to build roots here or there, how to be present in two places at once. These sit well in a reading because they are questions about how you want to live, not requests for a forecast.

Some people bring a home question instead, and then a different service is often the better fit: a distant Vastu analysis of a flat abroad, or Reiki for a stretch of exhaustion, may be more use than cards.

Booking a session from outside India

Dr. Kimaya Parikh-Ambekar reads tarot online, by video call, for clients in India and abroad, from VastuKimaya's office at A-1304, Naman Premier, Marol Military Road, Andheri East, Mumbai 400059.

To begin, write to stayblessed@vastukimaya.com or call or message +91 70391 07512 with your city and time zone. The first consultation call is free, the process is explained on that call, and a reading is charged at ₹1,000 per spread. Sessions are for adults aged 18 and over.

If your question turns out to be about a house rather than a decision, that is easy to redirect — remote consultations using a floor plan and photographs are a regular part of the practice.

Questions

Frequently asked

Can I book a tarot reading from outside India?

Yes. Readings are held online by video call, so your location does not matter. Write in with your city and time zone and a time is agreed that suits both ends.

Is an online reading different from sitting across a table?

The substance is the same — your question, the spread, the discussion. What changes is atmosphere, which is why a private room and a stable connection on your side are worth arranging.

What does a tarot reading cost?

₹1,000 per spread. How payment is arranged from your country is settled on the free first call, along with the timing and the spread that fits your question.

Can tarot tell me when my visa or job will come through?

No. Tarot is used here for reflection, not prediction, so no reader will give you events or dates. It can help you think clearly about how you are handling the wait.

Which languages can the session be held in?

English, Hindi, Marathi or Gujarati. Many people find it easier to speak about family matters in the language they grew up with, so say which you prefer when booking.

Is there an age limit?

Yes, readings are for adults aged 18 and over. For younger family members, a conversation with a counsellor or a trusted teacher is the more appropriate route.
