Remote Vastu Consultation: How It Works from a Floor Plan

It works in four stages: you send a floor plan with a compass reading and photographs, the plan is oriented and analysed against the वास्तु पुरुष मंडल (Vastu Purusha Mandala, the grid of the dwelling), the findings are discussed with you on a call, and you receive a written report of remedies.

This is not a reduced version of a site visit. Distant analysis is the first stage of every consultation in this practice, including the ones that end in a visit — the plan is always studied before anyone walks through the door.

What a visit adds is the compass reading taken by the consultant herself, and the things a photograph does not show: a smell of damp, a road bearing down on the entrance, a neighbouring structure, how the light actually moves. Where that matters, it is said plainly. Remote consultations are offered anywhere, and in-person visits are made across Mumbai and Thane, with other Indian cities on request.

Accuracy at this stage decides the quality of everything that follows. Spend an unhurried half hour on it rather than sending whatever is on your phone.

By reconciling your compass readings with the plan and cross-checking them against things that cannot lie. The sun is the most useful of these: a photograph with a timestamp showing where morning light falls tells the consultant a great deal about orientation.

Satellite imagery of the building helps confirm the plot's alignment and the position of the road, and repeated readings from different spots inside the flat let obvious magnetic interference be discarded.

If the readings conflict and cannot be resolved, you will be asked to take them again in a specific way rather than being given a report built on a guess. Getting the ईशान्य (Ishanya, the North-East) in the wrong corner would make every recommendation that follows wrong.

The plan is divided into zones and each is checked against what it governs, then read as a whole rather than as a list of faults.

The main entrance is examined by compass pada, because it sets how energy enters. The kitchen is checked against the South-East, which is the fire zone, with North-West acceptable, and against which way the cook faces. Bedrooms are read for the South-West for stability and for sleeping direction — head towards South or East. The pooja space belongs in the North-East. Toilets are checked against the North-East and the centre.

The ब्रह्मस्थान (Brahmasthan, the centre) is looked at for clutter and heaviness, since it is meant to stay open and light. Water and fire placements are checked for conflict, the flow between the entrance and the rooms is traced, and storage, mirrors and heavy furniture are assessed. Every direction has strengths as well as challenges, and none of this is read as a verdict on your home.

The remedies are non-structural. Nothing is demolished, no walls move, no kitchen is rebuilt. The tools are activated pyramids, crystals, Reiki, colour, metal, sound and salt therapy, numerology and simple home rituals — all of them portable, which is why they suit rented flats and flats you may leave in two years.

Remedies are usually sequenced rather than dumped on you at once: the few that matter most first, the rest over the following weeks. A follow-up conversation afterwards is part of the process, because a report you have half-implemented is worth discussing honestly.

When the property is complicated, when something is seriously wrong, or when a large amount of money is about to be spent.

Plots, bungalows, factories, restaurants and large offices generally deserve a visit, because the surroundings, slopes, approach roads and neighbouring structures carry real weight and photographs flatten them. Buying a plot is the clearest case of all.

In-person consultations are made across Mumbai and Thane, and in other Indian cities on request. For a standard flat or apartment anywhere in the world, a remote consultation from a good plan and honest photographs is usually sufficient — and for many people abroad it is the only realistic option.

It will not promise outcomes. Vastu is an approach to arranging space so that light, air, orientation and order support the people living in it. Nobody can honestly tell you that a mirror will change your income by a date.

It will not replace professional advice. Health questions belong with a doctor, legal and property title questions with a lawyer, and investment decisions with a qualified financial adviser. Vastu work sits alongside these, not in place of them.

And it will not ask you to break your home. If you are ever told that a wall must come down or an expensive object must be bought urgently to avoid a disaster, treat that as a reason to stop and seek a second opinion.
