Tarot for Buying a House or Moving Home
Buying or moving is one of the biggest decisions a family makes. Here is how a tarot reading can help you think it through clearly, and what it honestly cannot tell you.
By Dr. Kimaya Parikh-Ambekar, Vastu consultant, Andheri East, Mumbai

01
Can tarot help when you are buying or moving?
Tarot can help with a move by giving you a calm, structured hour to think, at a time when everyone around you has an opinion. Property decisions in Mumbai come with pressure from family, brokers, loan timelines and society paperwork, and it is easy to stop hearing your own view.
A reading is a reflection tool. It works by putting images and themes in front of you and asking what they bring up. What emerges is usually something you already half-knew — that the commute frightens you more than the price, or that you are buying to please someone else.
02
What can tarot for buying a house actually help with?
It helps with the human side of the decision, which is usually where people get stuck. The spreadsheet part — budget, loan eligibility, carpet area, legal title — belongs with your banker, lawyer and a good property adviser.
01
Separating need from pressure
A reading often surfaces whose expectations you are carrying — parents, in-laws, a partner, or a comparison with a friend's new flat.
02
Naming the real hesitation
People say 'I'm not sure about the flat' when they mean they are not sure about the city, the job behind the loan, or the timing.
03
Getting clear on non-negotiables
Light, a quiet bedroom wall, a safe lift, a school nearby — putting these in order of importance makes shortlisting much easier.
04
Slowing an emotional rush
When a broker says a flat will go tomorrow, an hour of reflection is often worth more than the hurry.
03
What questions should you bring to the reading?
Bring open questions about yourself rather than closed questions about the future. The difference changes what you get out of the hour entirely.
01
Ask this
'What am I really looking for in a home right now?' · 'What keeps making me hesitate on this flat?' · 'What would help me feel settled after the move?'
02
Rather than this
'Will the deal go through?' · 'Will the price come down next month?' · 'Is this flat lucky for me?'
03
Bring your shortlist
Two or three options, honestly described, give a reading something real to work with.
04
Bring the timeline
Knowing you have six weeks or six months changes which pressures matter.
04
What tarot cannot tell you about a property
A reading cannot tell you whether a sale will close, when possession will happen, what a property will be worth later, or what the seller is thinking. Anyone who offers those answers is not describing tarot as a reflection tool.
It is also not financial or legal advice. Loan decisions, title checks, society NOCs, RERA status and tax questions need qualified professionals. Please treat a reading as one input among several, not as a verdict on a purchase.
05
How does a Vastu check fit alongside the reading?
A Vastu check answers a different question: does this particular flat support the people who will live in it? Where does the main door fall on the compass, is the kitchen in or near the South-East, is the master bedroom in the South-West, and is the centre of the home open?
This is practical and measurable, and it is worth doing before you commit. A flat selection check can also show which issues have simple, non-structural remedies and which are harder to live with — useful information when you are comparing two properties.
06
Using a reading after the move, not just before
A reading is often more useful a month after the move than the week before it. The excitement has passed, the boxes are gone, and what remains is how the home actually feels.
Many families mark the beginning with गृह प्रवेश (Griha Pravesh, the ritual of entering a new home). A reading afterwards can help you name what still feels unsettled — a room nobody uses, a routine that has not restarted, a sense of missing the old neighbours. Those are honest, workable things to talk about.
07
What if you are renting, or moving for redevelopment?
The same approach applies, with less at stake financially and often more emotionally. Redevelopment moves in Mumbai societies come with temporary accommodation, uncertain timelines and a lot of waiting, which wears families down.
In a rented or transit home, both tarot and Vastu stay portable. The reading helps you hold your patience and your priorities; Vastu remedies are limited to furniture placement, colour, light, salt, sound and crystals — nothing that changes the structure. If the uncertainty is affecting your sleep or mood badly, please speak to a mental-health professional; in India, Tele-MANAS is free on 14416 (or 1-800-891-4416), 24×7.

When to book a reading
Book a reading when you have been going in circles on a property for weeks, when family opinions are pulling in different directions, or when a move is done but the new home still does not feel like yours.
Dr. Kimaya Parikh-Ambekar offers tarot reading at VastuKimaya's office in Andheri East, Mumbai, and works with clients across the city as well as at a distance. She also looks at homes through Vastu and numerology, so a property question can be approached from more than one side if you wish.
Questions
Frequently asked
Can tarot tell me if I should buy this flat?
No. A reading can help you understand what you want from a home and what is making you hesitate, but the decision, and the financial and legal checks behind it, remain yours.
Should I take a reading before or after seeing properties?
Either works. Before viewings it helps you set priorities; after viewings it helps you compare how you actually felt in each place.
Is a tarot reading a substitute for a Vastu check of the flat?
No. They answer different questions. A Vastu check uses a compass to assess the property itself, while a reading works on your own thinking about the move.
My family disagrees about the move. Can a reading settle it?
A reading will not decide for the family, but it can help one person get clear enough to have a calmer conversation with the others.
Can I take a reading about a home loan?
Not for the financial question itself. Loan amounts, tenure and affordability need a qualified financial adviser or your bank. A reading can only address how the commitment is sitting with you.
