Which crystal do I need?
Two questions, and you get two or three stones rather than a shopping list — with where each one goes by Vastu zone, and which are genuinely unsafe to keep within reach.
1.What would you like to support?
2.Are there young children or pets in the home?
Several popular stones are not safe within reach. We leave those out rather than suggest them with a warning.
Common questions
- Which crystal should I choose first?
- Clear quartz is the usual starting point because it carries no specific association. Beyond that, choose by what you want to support rather than by collecting — two or three placed deliberately do more than a bowlful.
- Which crystals are unsafe around children and pets?
- Malachite contains copper, pyrite is an iron sulphide that reacts with water, and fluorite contains fluoride compounds. Keep all three out of reach, never soak them, and never make drinking water with them. This tool leaves them out entirely if you say there are children or pets at home.
- Where should a crystal be placed in the home?
- By Vastu zone rather than by room. Clear quartz and amethyst suit the north-east, citrine the south-east or a work desk, rose quartz the south-west bedroom, and black tourmaline sits near the main door.
- Can crystals heal an illness?
- No. They carry traditional associations, not medical properties, and do not treat, cure or diagnose anything. For any medical or psychological concern, see a doctor.
- Is it safe to drink water a crystal has been soaked in?
- Treat it as unsafe unless you know exactly what the stone is. Several popular stones contain copper or lead and can make the water genuinely toxic.
- How do I clean a crystal without ruining it?
- A night in moonlight or a few hours on a selenite plate is safe for every common stone. Selenite itself dissolves in water, and amethyst, rose quartz and citrine fade in sustained direct sun.
