Shoe rack placement matters in Vastu because shoes carry dust and outside energy, and the entrance is the gateway through which energy enters your home. A heap of footwear right at the door is believed to block that fresh flow.
In Mumbai flats, space outside the door is often shared with neighbours and society rules may limit what you can keep there. That makes a thoughtful arrangement inside the entrance lobby even more useful.

Where should the shoe rack be placed as per Vastu?
The shoe rack is ideally placed in the South or West of the home or entrance area, or along the South-West or West wall of the foyer. These zones are linked with Earth and stability, and can hold heavier, grounded items without disturbing lighter zones.

Shoes are better kept in a closed rack inside the entrance than scattered outside the main door. A pile of footwear outside the door is associated with blocked opportunities, and it also crowds the common lobby.
If society rules allow a small cabinet outside, choose a slim, closed unit placed to one side, never directly in front of your door or your neighbour's.

What type of shoe rack is suitable?
A closed shoe cabinet with doors is generally the most suitable, as it keeps shoes out of sight and contains dust and odour. Open racks can work if they are kept very tidy.
