Vastu matters for a salon or spa because clients come to relax and feel cared for, and the space itself shapes that experience before a single service begins. A salon that feels bright, fresh and orderly encourages people to return; one that feels cramped or heavy does the opposite.

Salons and spas also combine very different energies under one roof — busy styling floors, quiet treatment rooms, water, heat from dryers and steamers, and a steady flow of cash. Vastu helps each activity sit in a zone that suits it.

The entrance should be bright, clean and easy to spot, because it is the first impression of your brand and the path through which clients and energy enter. North, East and North-East entrances are generally favourable; other directions can be balanced with remedies.

Steam rooms and saunas involve heat, so the South-East is more suitable. Toilets should avoid the North-East and the centre; if they already exist there, keep them spotless, closed and ventilated, and use remedies.

Soft, light colours — cream, ivory, blush, pale green or light grey — suit most salons and spas. Treatment rooms can use warmer, earthy tones for calm. Avoid large areas of black or very dark red.

Lighting on the styling floor should be bright and even; treatment rooms can use softer, warm lighting. Fragrance matters a great deal here. Mild essential oils such as lavender in treatment rooms and fresh citrus notes near the entrance create a pleasant experience, provided they are used safely, with good ventilation, and are kept subtle for clients who are sensitive, pregnant or allergic.

Keep a busy salon clean by combining strict hygiene with a few simple energy-cleansing habits. A busy team sees many clients in a day, and the space can start to feel heavy by evening.
