Accounts Department Vastu: Where Finance Teams Should Sit

The accounts department is traditionally placed in the North of the office, the zone of Kubera, the guardian of wealth. The North is associated with money flow, new opportunities and smooth transactions, which is why many Vastu consultants place billing, receivables and finance teams here.

The South-East, the zone of Agni and fire, is another traditional option for accounts, especially for teams that handle payments and cash transactions. Which zone suits your office depends on its full layout, entrance and the owner's cabin, so treat these as starting points rather than fixed rules.

Accountants should face North or East while working, the same principle applied to every desk in a Vastu-aligned office. North is linked with Kubera and prosperity; East with Indra and Surya, light and clarity.

In a compact Mumbai office where the finance person sits at a shared workstation, focus on the facing direction, a clean desk and a correctly placed locker. You may not have a separate accounts room, and that is fine.

Seat the accountant in the North portion of the open office where possible, facing North or East. Keep the cash drawer opening towards the North or East.
